私は神奈川県で優雅に（？？）一人暮らしをする、37歳の女性です。
気の赴くままに世界を放浪し、日常を満喫しています。
そんな私は、日本に住んでいるからという理由で、あまり日本のことには目を向けてこなかったように思います。
ですから、東日本大震災に見舞われた時、私はテレビにかじりつき、日本以外の地域を必死で知ろうとした経験は大変貴重なものになりました。
私は東京で生まれ育ち、現在も暮らしていて、地域に目を向けることもなく視野が狭くなっていたことを反省させられたものです。
しかし、震災からおよそ2週間後にイギリス人の友人にかけてもらった日本を賛美する声には、思わずうるっと来ました。
ひと言でいうと、「日本人の心は素晴らしい」ということを言われたのです。
それから外国での日本人の持つ精神を称える声に耳を傾けるようになり、いつしかそれが「もっと自分の国を知りたい！」という希望に変わっていきました。
ここで書いていることは、そんな経緯を持つ私が、日本を知りたいという情熱と共に細かく調べた事柄です。
私たちは欧米コンプレックスが強く、特に自分たちが優れていると思わないタイプです。
しかし、ここに書かれていることを知ると、自分のアイデンティティにはこんな素晴らしいものが詰まっているんだ、という発見があるはずです。
ここにある記事で一人一人が日本人のルーツを辿り、現在の日本人の素晴らしさを発見していくきっかけになるでしょう。

I am a 37-year-old woman, sumptuously (??) living alone in Kanagawa Prefecture.
I just enjoy everyday, wandering about the world as I please.
I have not tried to discover things in Japan since I have lived in Japan for long time.
So, when the great earthquake happened, I dedicated myself to know about the area except Japan, which led to a valuable experience.
I was born and grew up in Tokyo, and now I am still living in Tokyo.
I regretted that I had not known about the various area in Japan and tended to get a narrow point of view.
However, when I heard the words about praising Japanese efforts from a British friend of mine, I was impressed.
In other words, a friend of mine mentioned that "Japanese mind is wonderful."
Since then, I have tried to find voices of praising Japanese spirit from foreign countries, which made me wish to know about my county!
With this background, I have researched in detail and written about it here along with the passion for discovering Japan.
