日本人は自己評価が低い
前述「クリエイティブな発想」では、日本人が世界的に、いかに創造性に溢れた人々として見られているかについて言及しました。
しかし、私たち自身には「自分には創造性がある」という自覚があまりないようです。
以下の表は、先進5カ国のアンケート調査を元に算出した「最もクリエイティブな国」の割合です。
これで見ると、日本が最もクリエイティブな国として支持されていることがわかります。
しかし一方で、「自分をクリエイティブだと思うかどうか」については（表下を参照）、日本が19％と最も低い確率になっています。
つまり、諸外国の評価とは裏腹に、日本国内では自己評価が低いのです。
これは恐らく、「自己評価をする」という価値観自体がまだ私たちの中で十分に養われていないのだと思います。
私たちは「調和」を大切にする国民性で、個人の評価は二の次でした。
現在では世代が変わり、自己主張をする若者が増えてきましたが、何世紀もの間、私たちは「自己評価をすること」からは程遠いところにいました。
ただ、そんな私たちの「自己評価の低さ」が、海外では日本の最も大きな「欠点」に見えているのが現実です。
素晴らしい文化や価値観があるのに、それを何故、積極的にアピールしないのか？と疑問に思われるのは当然のことです。
これからの私たちは、古くから受け継いできた伝統と、主体性を重んじる精神をを融合していく必要があるものと思われます。

Japanese have a tendency to have a low self-evaluation
In the past sentence we have mentioned how Japanese people are known for being creative.
But it seems like some of us do not have self awareness that we are creative.
The chart bellow is a result showing "Creative countries", based on a questionnaire.
Looking at this, you can see that Japan is known as the most creative country.
However, if you ask Japanese people if they consider themselves creative, only 19% answered yes. (see below chart)
This result shows that Japanese people have a tendency to under value themselves, even though they are highly appreciated from other countries.
This is probably because we Japanese do not have a custom of self evaluation.
we honor harmony as the characteristics of our nation, and self evaluation was always a secondary importance.
Nowadays with the new generation taking part in the community, some of those to be self‐assertive, but for centuries we have been in a position so far away from evaluate ourselves.
The thing is, that fact is seen as a disadvantage from people outside of Japan.
Although we are known to have a wonderful culture and values, why would you not use that as an advantage? Is how foreigners see us.
Japanese people in this age should merge traditions which have been passed on to us with our identity.
