ジャポニズム（Japonisme）
「ジャポニズム」とは、19世紀頃からヨーロッパで見られた日本作品への賞賛、芸術界における「日本旋風」のことです。
きっかけは、19世紀中頃のヨーロッパで行われた万国博覧会で、日本の浮世絵などの美術品が高い評価を受けたことにあります。
明治維新後の日本は、博覧会に日本芸術を出品することで、日本文化を広めるという戦略をもっていたのかもしれません。
しかし、「ジャポニズム」は一過性のブームになることなく、20世紀に入っても、日本芸術に影響を受けたヨーロッパの芸術家が次々に現れました。
博覧会で日本芸術に目覚めた世代を越えて、新しい世代もまた日本芸術に大きく影響を受けたのです。
ですから、現在では「戦略的な日本文化の浸透」というよりは、「非戦略的な日本文化の流行」という意味が強いのかもしれません。
また、ジャポニズムの流れは、今尚続いているようです。
日本のニュースキャスター、滝川クリステルさんは青春期をフランスで過ごし、そこでは「北斗の拳」が凄く流行していた、ということをテレビで話していました。
ブラジルでは、日本のアニメブームが沸き起こっているとも聞きます。
私たちの多くは、恐らくそんなことを知らなかったでしょう。
ですから、日本文化の素晴らしさは、非戦略的な方法でも広がりを見せているのです。
現在の「ジャポニズム」は、まさに「非戦略的日本文化の流行」なのです。

Japonisme
"Japonism" is a term for an appreciation for Japanese arts that have appeared in Europe since the 19th century and the influence of Japanese art on Western culture.
Japanese arts, such as Ukiyo-e had been highly appreciated since the World Exposition had been held in the mid-19th century Europe.
By exhibiting Japanese arts in world expositions, Japanese government might have had a strategy to spread the Japanese culture after the Meiji Restoration.
However, "Japonism" was not only a trend, but also the influence of Japanese arts came to be commonly seen in European arts during the 20th century.
Japanese arts influenced not only on artists in world expositions but also on next generation artists significantly.
Therefore, it can be said that it was "the non-strategic trend of Japanese culture" rather than "the strategic influence of Japanese culture".
In addition, Japonism can be found even now.
Japanese TV announcer, Christel Takigawa had spent her adolescence in France and had mentioned on TV that "Fist of the North Star” known in Japan as “Hokuto no Ken” used to be very popular there.
It is said that the anime boom in Brazil has begun recently.
Most of us would not probably know such a thing.
Indeed, Japanese culture has spread without a strategy.
Neo-Japonism exactly means "the nonstrategic trend of Japanese culture."
